Remeberences - Chapter # 64

Free Enterprise -  Remembrances -  Chapter #64

Eighteen hours later Tyr's eyes fluttered open.

“Thank You Divine for another day.” he thought, even though he was not a “praying man”.

Tyr blamed this habit on his close affiliation with Khan. The Katay were a very devout race, whereas the Nietzscheans were more agnostic/atheistic in their beliefs. However, like in every group, there were some Nietzscheans who were “believers”. He didn't count himself as one, yet. . . . . . . .

Tyr lay there a few minutes and wondered what was missing. He then realized he missed the sound of his wives voices.

Their voices would fill the air as they chatted about the events of the days past or current. Lately, Amanda was in the process of teaching both Xena and Tamara how to cook. So, she would explain recipes and ingredients to them while demonstrating her technique. But, recently their conversations had been dominated by the upcoming birth of Tyr's sons. . . . . . . .

“Damn! I must find names.” Tyr thought. He realized if he did not find appropriate names, and on time, his already abused tail would be in even more hot water. According to Nietzschean custom it was HIS duty to name his sons.

“What is that old saying? You are damned if you do and you are damned if you do not.” Tyr thought, as he thought as he sat up. “Between a rock and a hard place.” he whispered and sighed.

“Welcome back to the universe, Tyr.” Khan whispered. Obviously, he had done exactly what he promised to do. He'd stood watch while Tyr slept.

“Good Morning, Khan. What is on the agenda for today? It is still morning, isn't it?” Tyr asked.

“Aye, Sir. It's still morning. Fleet Admiral HaxHis wants to see you at your earliest convenience.” Khan said. “You are also scheduled to meet Captain Hunt and Lieutenant Commander Harper for brunch.” Khan continued.

Tyr smiled to himself. He had originally planned the meal as a sort of all male get-together. However, on the spur of the moment, he decided to use the time together with his friends try out and select names.

“First, we work out.” Tyr said. Khan went to the dresser and handed Tyr his workout clothing.

* * * * * * * *

Two hours later, a freshly cleaned up and suited down Rear Admiral Tyr Anasazi and Captain Khan presented themselves at Fleet Admiral HaxHis' office.

“She has been expecting you.” T'Kala intoned, when she saw the two. She tabbed the button on her desk communicator and advised her superior that they had arrived. She was immediately given orders.

“Rear Admiral Anasazi, please go in.” T'Kala said politely. Tyr looked at Khan and Khan gazed back, only Tyr didn't like the expression the Katay had on his face. It was the “Your butt's in trouble now, Big Guy.” look. The small hairs on Tyr's neck stood on end, and thus warned he entered the Fleet Admiral's office.

He walked into her office, but didn't expect HaxHis to be standing right there and nearly ran smack dab into her. The look on her face was not pleasant. Tyr thought back to when last he has seen that expression. Back in the academy when he'd pulled one of his so-called Nietzschean pranks. . . . . .

She stared hard at him with her amber feline eyes for a full minute before speaking.

“As if you were mine own kit, I took you unto my breast and you repay me thus?” she asked in a cold hiss. Tyr blinked and hurriedly searched his mind for what she could be referring to, but came up blank. So he was ill prepared for what happened next.

As if he was an errant lion cub, HaxHis cuffed Tyr thrice upside the head. And like a lion cub, he shook his head, and blinked because those things really hurt!

“Gott In Himmel! What is it with women hitting me?” Tyr wondered, as he continued to stand stock still in front of HaxHis. Even while a migraine headache blossomed as a result of the blows.

“Willfully destroying Starfleet property would've gotten you 6 months imprisonment and immediate suspension of pay for the rest of your career, if you continued to HAVE A CAREER, under anyone else's command, Tyr. But, because of our relationship I am letting this go just this once. However, unless this station is under attack, under siege or likewise overrun, if you ever pull another stunt like that, I will reassign you so high, far and wide, behind the Divine's back, HE won't be able to find you! Do you hear me?” HaxHis hissed.

“Yes, Ma'am!” Tyr replied.

“Good. I also suggest you see Sabra about that little problem you are having with your wives. The mark of a good officer is he keeps both his command and house in order so one does not interfere with the other.” HaxHis said.

“Yes Ma'am.” Tyr replied.

“Dismissed!” HaxiHis said. In response, Tyr executed a textbook military right and exited.

Khan waited until Tyr was in the lift to assail him.

“So, what happened?” The Katay asked, as if he didn't already know.

“I do not wish to talk about it.” Tyr replied.

“That bad, eh?” Khan asked.

“If you already know, why ask?” Tyr exploded. It was a question he'd asked of Khan thousands of times and never got the right answer.

“I may know certain aspects of the future, but I can't read minds, Tyr. I ask because it is a form of communication. How else am I to find out what's wrong?” Khan replied, gently.

“Forgive me, this has been an exceedingly trying time.” Tyr replied.

“She cuffed you, didn't she?” Khan asked. Tyr refused to answer, but his eyes told the story.

“Those darned things can give you a migraine. Perhaps you'd better stop by Sickbay before going to your brunch appointment.” Khan said.

“No Thank You, Khan. I will deal with the headache.” Tyr replied. Khan chuffed as he knew the reason for the Nietzschean's hesitation. None other than Dr. Kori.

So, Tyr tamped down the pain in his head and headed to The Pepper Pot, where he and Khan were meeting Captain Hunt and Lieutenant Commander Harper for brunch.
