Pandemonium! - Chapter 46

Free Enterprise  -   Pandemonium! - Chapter 46

Two hours later the presentation ended and the lights came back up.

“As you can see Starfleet has already established it's presence in this sector of the galaxy and there is plenty of room for everyone who wants to establish a home, a base of operation, or open a business here.” HaxHis intoned.

“No one wants to travel this far out if they cannot bring their families.” Mav, a high ranking Tellorite functionary said in a nasally and squeaky voice.

Since she was in full diplomatic mode, HaxHis kept her irritation signals down to a minimum. Her whiskers turned down and the very tip of her tufted tail twitched. Anyone who knew her personally, knew she was thoroughly ticked.

“The damned fool must have slept through the entire presentation!” she thought, as he yawned to prove her point. She had been ordered by Starfleet Command to make nice. Yes, even with the idiots.

HaxHis was about to answer Mav when Ambassador T'All of Vulcan stood.

“Vulcan has decided to take your offer.” she intoned, sounding very much like T'Pau.

“Excellent! Thank you Ambassador T'All. Please see me at the end of this session.” HaxHis replied. The Vulcan leader serenely nodded and sat back down among her compatriots.

“And I, Cornelius DelToro speak for the Drago-Katzov Pride. We will stay also” a brasso profundo voice announced. Tyr gazed into the audience at the Dwayne Johnson ( The Rock ) look-alike Uber Alpha Nietzschean. Cornelius was the Arch Duke of said Pride and naturally one of Tyr's rivals.

“So will we.” said a Snow Leopard Katay. His name was Saleem and he was the leader of the Aquarius Pride. The Katay named their prides after stars and Zodiac signs.

HaxHis smiled to herself because she now had three powerful allies on her side.

“Fools!” a male voice shouted. Hundreds of heads swiveled round to look, and thousands of eyes stared as a male Romulan in full battle garb stood.

Of course the Romulans were there. HaxHis had insisted they come, now she wished they had not. He was obviously some highly placed functionary and had been sent by the Praetor to stir up the pot and generally get on everyone's nerves. He was doing a good job of it.

“Sir. Deep Space Ten is within Neutral Territory far away from Romulan Space. Unless you also wish to lay claim to this part of space too.” HaxHis countered.

“You cannot lay claim to it because this is our space!” a Klingon female, dressed to the nines in Klingon armor, stood and shouted down at the Romulans.

“Oh hell no. . . . “ Amanda muttered under her breath. Both Khan and Tyr heard her and agreed.

“I am almost ashamed to be affiliated with you people as a race. You Romulans see spies everywhere you go, even in the washrooms! It is a miracle that you've managed to survive so long as a race without exterminating yourselves down to the last man woman and child over nonsense!” a female's voice said stridently. She was none other than Sabrin, the Protente of Remus.

The Remans like Vulcans were offshoots of the Vulcan race. They were not warlike like the Romulans, nor were they logical like the Vulcans. They stood on the peaceful middle ground between the two. Right now Sabrin was the voice of reason. Sort of. . . . .

“What do you mean this space is yours?” the yet unidentified Romulan challenged of the Klingon female. She immediately stood and was surrounded by her people. The Romulans who were already spoiling for a fight, stood and likewise backed up their leader. It was a Texas standoff, with other dignitaries quietly vacating their seats in anticipation of what was threatening to become ardent verbal dispute and perhaps a donnybrook.

“Here's where the crap hits the fan big time. . . .” Amanda said, as the arguments escalated.

With a hand-paw signal from HaxHis, Security personnel stood and moved in ready to take control. Despite the presence of security, the noise level got a little too loud and the next thing everyone heard was a lion's roar. Everyone froze in place and stared at HaxHis.

“What are they so surprised about? She is a lion after all.” Tyr thought wryly

“Now that I have everyone's attention, please have a seat.” HaxHis said quitely, as you could've heard a pin drop in the auditorium now.

“But. . . . .” the Klingon female stood and started.

“Either you sit the hell down, and shut the hell up, or I will have you removed in irons!” HaxHis hissed, as Security quietly moved in. The Klingon hastily sat.

“This is an outrage! I will be filing a complaint with my consulate when I return!” Mav blustered, as his porcine eyes widened with shock. He just couldn't believe someone would talk to him like that.

"And I should file a complaint against you for being a jackass!" HaxHis thought and frowned. "I wasn't even talking to him!" she tohought and shook her maned head. Mutters of dissatisfaction were revving up again as the natives grew restless.

Suddenly the auditorium doors opened and a female voice shouted:

“Avast thar mateys!” she said as she stepped into the auditorium. She was dressed, quite frankly, like a Pirate! Baggy black pants stuffed into shiny knee-length black boots. White blousy shirt with ruffly sleeves and collar and tri-cornered hat and yes she wore a sword. Her companions were all dressed likewise. These were the Cosairans, the 24th century’s version of Old Earth Pirates.

“Did we miss somethin'?” Captain Donna Blackwood asked as she looked around at thousands of eyes which were gawking back at her.

“No you haven't. Come right in and have a seat.” HaxHis said, as she bid them to enter as if she was inviting them to tea. The party of thirty found seats in the rear where Security had vacated. HaxHis was about to start speaking again when the doors opened again.

“Oh what the hell is this? Grand Freaking Central Station?” someone quipped at the table, evoking chuckles all around. In stepped none other than Solon, his people and the crew of the Ticonderoga. Captain Xenobia was being escorted on his arm.

"Has it been six months already?" Tyr's wondered. His eyes narrowed as he glowered at the group.

“Tamara's not going to like this one bit.” Khan whispered in Tyr's left ear, as he watched Solon's group settle themselves into vacated seats left by security.

“No she is not.” Tyr agreed. A bad situation had suddenly gotten worse. Not to mention he now had to brief Amanda about it as she was now part of the family.

“Now that everyone is settled, shall we begin?” HaxHis asked. The meeting then started in earnest.
