How To Fall - Chapter 49

Free Enterprise  -  How To Fall -  Chapter 49

“I will briefly meet with my wives, let them know we are expecting guests and get dressed in workout clothing..” Tyr said as they both purposely strode down the corridor towards a bank of lifts.

“What about Amanda?” Khan asked, as they entered a waiting lift.

“She will be closeted in last minute meetings for most of the night. I will see her afterwords.” Tyr replied with determination.

“If that's going to involve breaking and entry I don't want to know about it.” Khan said.

He'd made sure he had properly schooled Tyr on Promethian mating rituals. One custom was the “ritual break in” where the husband was supposed to gain access to his wife's locked domicile without her knowing and lie in wait for her.

“Don't worry, you will not.” Tyr said as he smiled. Both men separated as he entered his VIP quarters.

Both Tamara and Xena were sitting in the living room surrounded by brightly colored shopping bags and showing off their plunder to one another.

Upon seeing Tyr, both women dropped what they were doing and flew into his arms. He hugged and kissed both. First Tamara then Xena.

“Tamara, you are aware that your uncle has returned from his trip and is now a resident on this station.” Tyr warned his first wife.

“You are a day late and a dollar short. I almost ran smack dab into him this morning. If it wasn't for Xena keeping him away I would've decked him. He wants to speak to you by the way.” Tamara said.

“To me? What about?” Tyr said.

“I haven't a clue. We're not exactly on speaking terms, you know.” Tam replied coldly as she stepped away and started tossing things back into shopping bags.

“All I know is he insisted on seeing you ASAP, and Xena told him she didn't care what it was, he was just going to have to cool his nacelles until after this whole confab thing was over.” Tam continued.

She then turned on her heel and left the room. Tyr realized he was witnessing a rare thing, a ticked Vulcan. Standing beside Tyr, Xena shrugged.

“She's been ticked ever since she saw him this morning. Of all places, why did he have to come back here?” Xena asked, as Tyr pulled her close.

"I do not comprehend his motives. When the confrence is over I will personally deal with him and if I find him to be suspect I will have him jettisoned from the nearest airlock." Tyr replied.

"That doesn't sound wise nor legal." Xena replied.

"Whether it is wise, legal, or not, I doubt many will miss him." Tyr said.

"Unless he has made peace and forged some kind of alliance with the Nietzschens on Zenobia's ship, that we don't know about." Xena said. Tyr didn't have time to contemplate her statement and reply, because Tamara chose that very second to return in a much better mood.

“I've invited some guests for dinner tonight and since I don't have time to properly prepare a big meal, I think we should order enough food from The Pepper Pot for ten.” Tyr said to both.

“Ten? You, me, Xena and who else?” Tamara asked.

“Khan, Sabra, the twins, Harper, Monique, Captain Hunt and whomever he chooses to bring. Don't count me because I won't be eating much.” Tyr replied.

“We met Harper earlier today, but who is Monique?” Tam asked.

“She is has been newly wed to Seamus and I believe we will all meet her tonight.” Tyr replied.

“Since the Khans are coming, we'd better order extra fish. I happen to know the kids really love fish.” Tamara said.

“What cat doesn't like fish?” Tyr wondered to himself.

“What about Amanda?” Xena asked and frowned. She hadn't seen hide nor hair of the new addition to their family since Tyr made the announcement.

“She will be in meetings until late this evening, so we will see each other later.” Tyr replied. Of course he had plans to remedy that oversight.
They all verified times and each went on their way to enact their part of the plan.

Tyr went into the kitchen and checked the slow cooker he had set up since this morning. Finding the dish was fully cooked, he turned the heat off. He removed the pot, emptied it's contents into a large thermos like warmer, capped it, and let it sit.

The stew would stay warm for hours in the specially designed warmer until it could be eaten. He then got dressed in his gym clothing and headed for the gym.

When Captain Dylan Hunt arrived an hour later, Tyr was warming up by using the elliptical machine, while Khan ran flat out on all fours on a specially designed treadmill.

Under Tyr's watchful eye Dylan warmed up, followed him to the mats, and got ready to be tortured.

Tyr struck a non-aggressive pose and beckoned “come hither” with his right hand. Dylan instantly felt like one of those old Earth circus performers who specialized in putting their heads into the lion's mouth. As long as the lion didn't close his mouth, they were fine. . . . . . .

Dylan looked at Tyr and saw every bit of the Kodiak namesake written all over him in capital letters. As he stepped in to challenge Tyr, he heard Khan hiss at Tyr. Of course, he didn't understand a thing the Katay said.

“Tyr, remember you are not supposed to kill a Starship Captain unless he is Borg or a Founder.” Khan said.
He got a grunt of response. Khan pulled his whiskers back with mirth. Tyr was in the zone again. He was lucky he'd even gotten a response.

Dylan thought he was making a good frontal attack and wound up flat on his backside on the mat for his effort. He gazed up at Tyr who frowned down at him with a “That's all you've got?” expression on his face.

Dylan stood again and tried again, and again wound up on his hind end for his efforts. Captain Hunt wondered if this was going to be par for the course for the rest of the workout.

“Dylan.” Tyr said as he again beckoned. “I see we have to start again from the beginning. Lesson one will be how to fall. If you continue to fall in that manner you will injure yourself. Then you will have no need of an enemy to hurt or kill you.”Tyr deadpanned. Khan couldn't help but chuff at the Nietzschean's wit.

“Etu Brute” Dylan asked mentally as he stood and Tyr positioned him. The next hour was spent with Tyr knocking Dylan down, but now he was learning the correct way to fall and roll back onto his feet.

“In a fight, valuable seconds can be wasted by falling incorrectly and struggling to regain one's footing.” Tyr warned, sagely.

“Thanks Tyr.” Dylan wheezed, as he gazed up at the Nietzschean. Tyr looked as fresh as a daisy, yet he looked and felt as if he had just run a marathon. Not saying he wasn't in good physical condition, but. . . . .

“That is enough for today. We will continue this lesson tomorrow.” Tyr declared.

“Yeah. How To Perform a Nietzschean Beat Down On A Human Without Breaking Into A Sweat, Part Two.” Dylan thought.

“Do not forget dinner tonight at my quad.” Tyr said, as he tossed a towel over his shoulder. “You may bring a guest.” he added, not really sure what Dylan's relationship status was. So, he settled for being pleasantly or unpleasantly surprised.

“Oh crap, I did forget!” Dylan thought.

“I'll be there.” Dylan replied verbally, as he headed for the sonic showers. Tyr glanced to his right at Khan.

“We will be there.” Khan replied, referring to himself and his family. “Oh, you are going to discover something which has been hidden and Tamara is going to have a revelation for you. Make sure you heed it and follow her advise.” the Katay continued, as his amber Tiger eyes bored into Tyr's brown ones. All of the tiny hairs stood on Tyr's neck, and he detested when that happened.

“Did you hear me, Tyr?” Khan asked, as the Nietzschean seemed stunned. “I am a pregog, not telepathic so you have to say yes, or si, we, or something so I know you heard what I said.” Khan scolded good naturedly and pulled his whiskers back.

“Yes, I heard you.” Tyr said.

“Don't stress my Brother. These are just growing pains. The small details you must take care of before you make your accent up the North Face of Mount Everest.” Khan said sagely.

Seamus as at his wits end. His lover, companion, friend and now newly wed wife, was in tears. He hated when women cried because it broke his heart.

“Noni” ( their mutually agreed upon nickname for her ) had been a pillar of fearless strength for years. Her personal motto being: “If I go down, everyone's coming down with me!”. However, Seamus had never seen her like this.

“Noni. What's the matter? I thought this news would make you happy!” Harper said.

“Seamus, you know what I am.” she said.

“Of course I do.” Harper replied.

“But no one else knows.” Monique replied.

“That's because we promised each other that we would keep it secret.” Harper replied.

“When we go to The Insurrection, I will no longer be able to keep my identity a secret.” Monique replied. “Now you are telling me that we've also been invited to have dinner with The Captain of The Insurrection? Do you know who he is?” she continued.

“Of course I know who he is! He's Tyr Anasazi out of Victoria by Barbarrosa of the Kodiak Pride!” Harper replied proudly. Noni was privately shocked how well versed her husband was on this particular Nietzschean's bloodline.

“He's only the heir-apparent to Barbarrosa. And he will definitely know who I am the second he lays eyes upon me. I will be walking straight into the lion's den.” Noni said as a tear rolled down her face.

“Noni, Tyr took me under his wing and he treated me like a little brother. He will not hurt you.” Harper promised.

“What about the others?” she asked, as she took the tissue her husband gave her and dried her face.

“He won't let them hurt you either. I promise, Noni. No one is going to hurt you.” Harper said. Monique took a deep breath, stopped crying and pulled herself together, somewhat.

“Now, go find something nice to wear. Tyr wants us there by 1900 hours.” Harper continued. Monique glanced at the chronometer and it said 1756 hours.

“If I'm going to meet my doom, I might as well look nice.” Monique thought. She smiled, gave her husband a quick kiss and scampered off.
